The Blessing of Trust

 Value 7: Trust

By Sam Grainger, Director at Camp Latgawa

When I arrived at Latgawa in April of 2016, I knew I might be in over my head. This was a new site to me, with new people, opportunities, and challenges. I knew then I would need the trust of a lot of folks to be successful in this new role. I also knew how hard it is to trust a new person tasked with caring for something that you care for deeply.

All I could do was ask that the staff hired before me, the volunteers, deans, donors, guests and campers and their families trust me to do my best. What a huge ask!

Four summer seasons later, as we begin transitioning to a new chapter at Camp Latgawa, I want to thank all of you who have continued to support the mission and site, as well as me personally. I truly appreciate you trusting so deeply and not withdrawing when things got tough.

I also want to ask that each of you who continue to trust in the process, in our system and in the new direction that Camp Latgawa may take. You, our donors, volunteers, supporters, and guests are what make Latgawa such a special place, and as staff continue to change over time, your trust in the mission and work is key to future success!

Thank you!

Sam Grainger
